Sweet Sorbet Card in a Box {Sale-a-Bration}

As you can see, I've been busy making another card in a box.  These are such fun cards to make, and truly are a gift to the recipient.  I think that all my good friends will be getting similar cards this year!  This one is for my sister-in-law, and I really, really hope she likes it.  One of the things that makes this type of card so much fun is that you can just go crazy loading it up with all kinds of images and elements.  There is a LOT going on here, but it just makes it more fun!

Tips & Tricks
  • On the first card in a box I made, I used strips of card stock to mount the various images.  On this one, I used strips of a window sheet, and I like it much, much better.  It puts the focus on the images, as they are just kind of floating when the card is opened.
  • While I love to use Stampin' Up!'s watercolor paper for watercoloring, the color wasn't quite right for this card.  Did you know that you can still watercolor on Whisper White?  That's exactly what I used here.  Just be sure to stamp the image with StazOn ink before getting out your Aquapainters!

Peekaboo Frames Interactive Birthday Card

I love interactive cards...which is probably why I've been making so many flip cards lately!  Giving a beautiful, handmade card is a gift all by itself, but giving an interactive card is an even better gift!  It's fun to watch the recipient play with it and figure out just how it works.

This peekaboo card is exactly that kind of card.  I love the slider on the side that "opens" the card, revealing a surprise.  I thought this would be difficult to make, but as it turned out, it was actually pretty straightforward.  Here's what it looks like after the slider has been pulled:
Cute, huh?  If you're in my club, you just may have the chance to make one of these next week (hint, hint!)  I'll post that card along with directions on how to make it next Friday, so be sure to stop back then for all the details!

Sneak Peek: Sketched Birthday Invitation

Here it is...another sneak peek of the brand new Sketched Birthday set that I received while in Orlando.  I did a bit more watercoloring with this one, though.  I'm completely in love with the Honeycomb embossing folder, too!  While there is no punch to make those hexagon inserts, it was pretty easy to make them.  I simply ran some scraps through my Big Shot in the Honeycomb embossing folder, then cut along the embossed lines.  It was very easy to do, and since I wasn't trying to fill each spot, it too very little time.  I crumpled up the Early Espresso card stock to give it some texture, which is just what this card needed.

Sneak Peek: Sketched Birthday

Want to see a sneak peek of a BRAND NEW stamp set that will be coming out in the 2013-2014 Catalog?  You just did. :)  That adorable piece of cake is part of a set called Sketched Birthday.  I received this set when I was at Stampin' Up!'s Leadership Conference.  It was at the very end of the day, and we had to leave the convention center by a certain time in order to meet the car that was going to take us to the airport.  We thought we'd allowed enough time, but the session went longer than planned, and we were getting very close to needing to leave.  However, we could see Stampin' Up! employees standing at the doors with boxes, so we just knew we were going to get one more fabulous give-away.  There was no way we were going to miss out on that, so as things started winding down, we edged over to the door, and were the first ones to get this adorable set.  And then we were out the door, sprinting over to our hotel.  We got there with two minutes to spare, although the car service seemed to think that we had already left.  I'm not sure how we would have done that, since they were providing our ride!

Anyway, this set is SO CUTE!  I'm not allowed to show you a picture of the set, just samples, but take my word for it...it's adorable!  And remember the other day when I said that I don't really like line art style images?  Yeah, well, that apparently doesn't hold true when it comes to this set.  The more I look at it, the more I like it.  Oh, and the cute little banner at the bottom...it's just one of three in the set, which all coordinate with the Bitty Banners Framelits.  Other images in the set coordinate with other punches and Framelits as well.  That just increases my love. :)  Be sure to check back later this week, when I'll have another sneak peek of this set!
